Marimekko’s Unikko jar adds a touch of easy-going elegance to all table settings. Made from brown stoneware, the jar is glazed on the inside but left untreated on the outside for a perfectly imperfect finish. The set includes a small ceramic spoon and a beautiful lid, featuring an embossed Unikko-print and a small opening for the spoon. Fill the jar with spices or your favourite condiment – or gift one to your favourite foodie!
The Unikko pattern came about in 1964 after Armi Ratia, the founder of Marimekko, had announced in public that no floral fabrics are designed at Marimekko. Maija Isola did not accept rules or restrictions and designed in protest a complete collection of bold floral patterns: Unikko, a Finnish word that means poppy. Today, Unikko is one of Marimekko’s best-known patterns and is recognized around the world.
